A tribute to those whose lives have been disrupted and irreparably altered by the BP oil disaster…

An intricate chain of tiny beads form a bib, which serves as the backdrop for the many gems and charms that dangle delicately from the links. Each charm has a special meaning: the gulf waters are represented by pale blue chalcedony; a tiny carved stone turtle, a mother of pearl fish, an enameled egg, a piece of coral, assorted green agate—these signify the helpless creatures and plant life affected by the oil spill; assorted pearls symbolize oysters and other shellfish that will suffer; and a variety of other faceted gems and beads represent the ongoing conflict between wildlife and invasive industry, one that’s yet to be resolved.

For each necklace sold,
